Charlotte Lucas is 27 and Not Dead is a radical musical adaptation of Pride & Prejudice from the perspective of Charlotte Lucas, in an irreverent and excessively queer love story that takes place against the backdrop of the beloved classic.
Did you ever think that there was more to Charlotte Lucas? Like, more gayness? We did! It’s basically canon that she was in love with Elizabeth Bennet. It’s cool if you didn’t pick up on it – Charlotte didn’t pick up on it until she was 27! We follow her relatable journey of self-discovery, which leads her to find that she’s not the only secret lesbian in Hertfordshire . . .
This two-act romantic-comedy with a contemporary rock/pop score is juxtaposed against a 19th century period setting and dialogue. This is a retelling with a modern (sense &) sensibility; we’re creating the inclusive period romance that we want to see in the world! Made by Jane Austen fans for both longtime Pride and Prejudice fans and newcomers alike!
